Right on one corner of the Port Avenue, the Armadores de Santander (Shipowners of Santander) hotel erects magnificently. Its architectural motifs and its decoration evoke the beautiful and maritime Spanish region of Santander, where the owner and builder of the hotel, José Cabrero Mier, was from. The main shipowners from that city, such as De la Mortera Count who owned fleets that operated in the West Indies, had their offices in this building.
From many of its rooms, which are filled with the sea breeze, as from the terrace- viewpoint, guests can see ships entering and leaving the bay of Havana. The best choice for meals is the Cantabria restaurant that specializes in the native food from Santander and in the international cuisine. The Armadores de Santander hotel is a permanent invitation to enjoy a memorable stay.
Location: The Hotel Armadores de Santander overlooks the port of Havana.
Great location, 10 minutes from the heart of the action with panaromic views of the harbour from the rooftop terrace bar. Hotel is spotless throughout and rooms are fully equipped and spacious inside: some rooms are on two levels and have views over the harbour (and accompanying noise from all the hustle and bustle) whereas others are located inside the hotel and, whilst not having windows, are quieter. Staff are on duty 24 hours and are friendly, helpful and always ready for a chat: the reception, bar and restaurant service is excellent and there is also a shop and smoking/reading rooms inside the hotel. The cuisine is of the normal standard found in Cuba. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.
