Centro Habana Travel Guide
Centro Habana is one of the 15 municipalities (municipios in Spanish) in the city of Havana, Cuba. Centro Habana is located between the restored Old Havana and posh suburbs further west (such as Vedado and Miramar) and is relatively run-down. A large part of Centro Habana’s attraction lies in the visceral and the abstract. Its real essence is difficult to pin down, perhaps because the ins and outs are often hard to define.
There are a lot of retail spaces (such as Plaza de Carlos III), shopping streets (such as San Rafael), office buildings, hotels, bars and clubs (such as the Casa de la Musica on Galiano). A Chinatown - Barrio Chino - is also located in this district. The Partagas tobacco factory (behind El Capitolio), is the biggest export factory in Cuba, with 550 staff producing 8 million cigars every year. There are some good restaurants such as Los Nardos and La Guardia.
